I’ve been majorly craving a burger lately, so why not torture myself by finally reviewing the famous burger from Father’s Office? This LA hotspot has a convenient location in Culver City WITH valet parking. Yeah, and that’s just the beginning. You actually have to be 21 just to get into the restaurant, so after waiting a couple years, I finally got a taste of the delicious eats. Burgers > alcohol.
Monday birthdays are a bit of a bummer – you end up having to go to class or work and celebrating comes later. Luckily, the whole weekend before provides ample time for true celebration! Considering my first ever blog post was about my 21st birthday brunch, I thought it’d be fitting to document my brunch feast for my 22nd birthday! Saturday afternoon was spent indulging in some amazing food porn at Scarlett Begonia, a hidden gem in downtown Santa Barbara.
Happy FRI-YAY! Unfortunately, most of my weekend will be spent studying for my impending midterms (my last midterms ever!), but before I hole up in a dark corner of the library, I treated myself to some scrumptious ice cream at Salt & Straw. I have been dying to try this gourmet spot for ages, but could never muster up the energy to drive all the way to the Larchmont location. Luckily, the ice creamery opened up a new location on Abbott Kinney a few weeks ago! So I naturally had to stop by and try just about every flavor.
I recently blogged about my travels through the great city of San Francisco, and I’m guessing some of you noticed its strange (for me) lack of food. Well, that’s because I was saving my culinary adventure in SF for its own blog post. Trust me, it’s that incredible. My first stop in the city was to this gem: Sweet Maple. The cozy spot was not only one of the best meals I have ever had, but it’s also home to the famous MILLIONAIRE’S BACON. Never heard of it? Don’t worry – keep reading for my mouth-watering description and some insanely sinful food porn.
One of the best things about living in LA is that good food is definitely not hard to find in this city. Even better is when good food is literally right around the corner! I’ve been going to quirky Japanese-American fusion joint Humble Potato since it first opened in my little neighborhood of Westchester. They recently expanded into Culver City, so I’m hoping that’s a sign they’ll be around forever! Trust me, you’ll understand when you see this food – it’s too good to pass up.
The City by the Bay is one of my favorite places in the world – not only was I born in the SF area, but I try and visit at least once a year to re-explore the city. This summer I spent a day in the city doing what I do best: shopping and eating.
LA may be home to some of the best foodie spots in the world, but very few places in this huge city can be called “quaint.” Enter Magnolia Bakery, an adorable little branch off from the original NYC spot, located smack between The Grove and The Beverly Center (good excuse for shopping AND food). I first heard about Magnolia on Instagram, with a shot of their famous banana pudding. Now, banana pudding may sound like a grandmother’s dessert, but at Magnolia Bakery it’s so much more…
I have been sitting here trying to write this blog post for almost two hours – editing photos, brainstorming titles… Not because I can’t find the words to describe the food at Greenspan’s Grilled Cheese (“delicious,” “amazing,” and “orgasmic” come to mind), but because I simply don’t want the experience to be over. I’m like one of those serial killers who documents their crimes to relive it over and over… only I just murdered a grilled cheese sandwich and reliving it equals a mouth full of saliva and a craving for melted cheese. But you all deserve to vicariously kill one of these fancy griddled sandwiches, so read on, friends. Also, maybe consider deleting your browser history after – this is some dirty foodporn.
You know when you hear about a restaurant that supposedly has amazing food, fantastic ambiance, and is just all around hyped up but it ends up falling flat? Well, this is the opposite of that. After drooling over a picture on Insta of Republique’s famous kimchi fried rice, I doodled the LA restaurant’s name on my culinary bucket list. The name suggests a French vibe, and it didn’t disappoint. The bright cafe perfectly blends local LA style and some classic Parisian flair. I finally found myself there for brunch on a gloomy July Sunday and oh my… see for yourself.
