Indulging at the Vegan Street Fair

Cheese is the glue that holds my life together and I can’t imagine going longer than a month without indulging in an old-fashioned burger, but I’m always looking for food that challenges the notion that animal products are the key to delicious eats. The Vegan Street Fair in North Hollywood provided the perfect chance to experiment with different cruelty-free food and see just how tasty vegan food can be. Check it out!

Out to Lunch at Father’s Office

I’ve been majorly craving a burger lately, so why not torture myself by finally reviewing the famous burger from Father’s Office? This LA hotspot has a convenient location in Culver City WITH valet parking. Yeah, and that’s just the beginning. You actually have to be 21 just to get into the restaurant, so after waiting a couple years, I finally got a taste of the delicious eats. Burgers > alcohol.

Birthday Brunch at Scarlett Begonia

Monday birthdays are a bit of a bummer – you end up having to go to class or work and celebrating comes later. Luckily, the whole weekend before provides ample time for true celebration! Considering my first ever blog post was about my 21st birthday brunch, I thought it’d be fitting to document my brunch feast for my 22nd birthday! Saturday afternoon was spent indulging in some amazing food porn at Scarlett Begonia, a hidden gem in downtown Santa Barbara.

Sweet Treats at Salt & Straw

Happy FRI-YAY! Unfortunately, most of my weekend will be spent studying for my impending midterms (my last midterms ever!), but before I hole up in a dark corner of the library, I treated myself to some scrumptious ice cream at Salt & Straw. I have been dying to try this gourmet spot for ages, but could never muster up the energy to drive all the way to the Larchmont location. Luckily, the ice creamery opened up a new location on Abbott Kinney a few weeks ago! So I naturally had to stop by and try just about every flavor.

Brunch So Hard: Sweet Maple SF

I recently blogged about my travels through the great city of San Francisco, and I’m guessing some of you noticed its strange (for me) lack of food. Well, that’s because I was saving my culinary adventure in SF for its own blog post. Trust me, it’s that incredible. My first stop in the city was to this gem: Sweet Maple. The cozy spot was not only one of the best meals I have ever had, but it’s also home to the famous MILLIONAIRE’S BACON. Never heard of it? Don’t worry – keep reading for my mouth-watering description and some insanely sinful food porn.

Healthy Meets Happy at True Food Kitchen

When I come home to LA for the summer, it’s always a frenzy to try as many restaurants as possible and mooching off of my parents when it comes to food. Most people strive for that “summer bod…” mine is usually made from late night Taco Bell runs and froyo on hots days (so, everyday). But I love finding that rare spot that provides delicious food AND healthy options – like True Food Kitchen!

Sitting Pretty at Magnolia Bakery

LA may be home to some of the best foodie spots in the world, but very few places in this huge city can be called “quaint.” Enter Magnolia Bakery, an adorable little branch off from the original NYC spot, located smack between The Grove and The Beverly Center (good excuse for shopping AND food). I first heard about Magnolia on Instagram, with a shot of their famous banana pudding. Now, banana pudding may sound like a grandmother’s dessert, but at Magnolia Bakery it’s so much more…

Pigging Out at the OC Fair

Would you believe me if I said that in the 15 years that I have lived in LA, I never once made it out to the annual Orange County Fair? That’s right – self proclaimed foodie and younger, hotter Paula Deen (I mean, we both love butter) waited a decade and a half to indulge in the culinary delight that is fried EVERYTHING. I can now say with confidence that the fair will now be an annual trek and the day after will forever be National Food Hangover Day.

Cheesiness Is Close to Godliness

I have been sitting here trying to write this blog post for almost two hours – editing photos, brainstorming titles… Not because I can’t find the words to describe the food at Greenspan’s Grilled Cheese (“delicious,” “amazing,” and “orgasmic” come to mind), but because I simply don’t want the experience to be over. I’m like one of those serial killers who documents their crimes to relive it over and over… only I just murdered a grilled cheese sandwich and reliving it equals a mouth full of saliva and a craving for melted cheese. But you all deserve to vicariously kill one of these fancy griddled sandwiches, so read on, friends. Also, maybe consider deleting your browser history after – this is some dirty foodporn.

A Little Slice of Parisian Brunch in LA

You know when you hear about a restaurant that supposedly has amazing food, fantastic ambiance, and is just all around hyped up but it ends up falling flat? Well, this is the opposite of that. After drooling over a picture on Insta of Republique’s famous kimchi fried rice, I doodled the LA restaurant’s name on my culinary bucket list. The name suggests a French vibe, and it didn’t disappoint. The bright cafe perfectly blends local LA style and some classic Parisian flair. I finally found myself there for brunch on a gloomy July Sunday and oh my… see for yourself.
