OOTD: In Full Color

It’s been a while since since my last outfit of the day post, but I’m happy to be back with a look that I really love. Winter is usually the season for dark shades: hunter greens, deep navies, and chic blacks. However, I think this dreary weather we’ve been having is the perfect opportunity to make yourself stand out with a huge POP of color. The key is to stick to complimentary colors such as blue, yellow, and red, and then tone the look down with a neutral. I never shy from a bold & vibrant outfit – check out how I put together this look!

Brunch So Hard: Sweet Maple SF

I recently blogged about my travels through the great city of San Francisco, and I’m guessing some of you noticed its strange (for me) lack of food. Well, that’s because I was saving my culinary adventure in SF for its own blog post. Trust me, it’s that incredible. My first stop in the city was to this gem: Sweet Maple. The cozy spot was not only one of the best meals I have ever had, but it’s also home to the famous MILLIONAIRE’S BACON. Never heard of it? Don’t worry – keep reading for my mouth-watering description and some insanely sinful food porn.

My Recent Five Faves

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been reflecting on whether or not “My Five Faves of the Week” had a place on my blog. Sometimes I would feel rushed at the end of the week to get a post up, and I have other content (fashion, beauty, food, etc.) that I am excited to write but gets sidetracked each week by the Five Faves. SO – I have decided to revamp the section and make it simply “My Recent Five Faves.” It will be up whenever I have five things I’m dying to show you all, so not necessarily every week, but often! I hope you like these little changes and keep reading.

Traveling the Bay: San Francisco & Monterey

Over winter break, I had the chance to go back to one of my FAVE cities in the world: San Francisco! SF is chock-full of amazing restaurants, prime thrift store shopping, and a variety of interesting subcultures and neighborhoods. I also made my way over to Monterey while I was up north and experienced the little coastal town for the first time. I’ve compiled some of the highlights of my vacation here, so if you’re ever in the area you’ll know where to go!

2015 in Review

For my first blog post of 2016, I decided to reminiscence on the best parts of the past year and what I’m most excited about in the new year! That tired old saying of “new year, new me” is a little silly – we’re constantly changing and (hopefully) making our lives better. But as 2015 was such a hard year for me, I’m really hoping to embrace the idea of a new year and take on the challenges that are definitely coming my way.

I Dressed Like a Chanel from “Scream Queens” for a Week

The first season of Ryan Murphy’s hit show “Scream Queens” may have captivated us with its quirky mix of horror and humor, but the thing that kept me watching week after week was the FASHION. Chanel Oberlin (played by the Queen herself, Emma Roberts) and her squad tormented their pledges and were certainly prime suspects in some of those murders, but they definitely did it all in style. While I admired the patented “Chanel” look with its array of furs, pastels, and tons of sparkle, I was never brave or creative enough to replicate it in my daily life. So after the season finale and my inevitable withdrawals, I challenged myself to look like a Chanel for a week. Since I’m a mere college student and can’t afford real Chanel, I made do with what was in my and my mom’s closet. Here’s what I wore!

A Twist on the Classics at Humble Potato

One of the best things about living in LA is that good food is definitely not hard to find in this city. Even better is when good food is literally right around the corner! I’ve been going to quirky Japanese-American fusion joint Humble Potato since it first opened in my little neighborhood of Westchester. They recently expanded into Culver City, so I’m hoping that’s a sign they’ll be around forever! Trust me, you’ll understand when you see this food – it’s too good to pass up.

3 Ways to Style a Blush Coat

Not too long ago I blogged about the 10 items I was most excited to start wearing this season, including the J.O.A. pastel pink coat I picked up from Crossroads for an amazing deal. And when Pantone announced that one of 2016’s colors of the year is “rose quartz,” I knew that I had made a very fashion-forward buy! So today I’m bringing you three different ways to style a blush coat just in time for the holiday season.

My Five Faves of the Week

It’s that time of the week again! This week was “Dead Week” at my school, meaning the week before finals when I curl up into a ball and wish I were dead. But luckily I have you lovely readers and of course my Five Faves to cheer me up! This week has some new beauty items, a DIY decor idea, and the perfect Starbucks drink to get you in the holiday spirit.
