You Hungry? Miso Hungry, too!

Not only does Miso Hungry have THE cutest restaurant name, it also has some delicious Japanese cuisine for under $10. Think Chipotle, but sushi style. You can choose from a wrap (basically a sushi burrito), a bowl, or a salad. They offer preset options, like the spicy yellowtail wrap or the rainbow salad which features a variety of raw fish. You can also build your own dish from the multitude of fresh ingredients. It’s the perfect place for a night out with friends – cheap, fast, and something for everyone!

I love burritos and I love sushi, so there was no hesitation when I decided to order a sushi wrap. I chose the spicy yellowtail: raw fish with habanero sauce, carrots, avocado, and cucumber. With each wrap you get a choice of soy paper or seaweed (seaweed all the way), white or brown rice, and a pick of greens. I got brown rice because I was trying to be healthy… but the white would have been much better. It’s just not sushi without sticky rice. The yellowtail was really fresh and perfectly spicy, but it could have used something with more flavor – maybe some seaweed salad or jalepenos.

My housemates came along (look how cute they are!) and each ordered something different. The best food of the night goes to Isabel, who ordered the shrimp tempura and crab wrap. The cream cheese, crispy fried shrimp, and crab blended perfectly into a delicious burrito. I’m sure the sticky white rice added to the perfection.

If you want to be all healthy and what not, try one of the salads topped with lots of goodies like shrimp, avocado, masago, seaweed salad, and garlic aioli. The salad definitely offers the most variety, so if you’re super indecisive the rainbow salad is the perfect way to try everything on the menu. Everyone at the restaurant was so nice and even offered suggestions of favorite items and sauces. With such a large menu, I will definitely be going back to Miso Hungry to try more! And, not gonna lie, we ate our food in about fifteen minutes – so you know it’s good!
